Shawn Chenoweth Victorious in Ontario Outlaw Super Late Model Season Opener

Tuesday - June - 2024

INNISFIL, Ontario — Returning back behind the wheel of a Super Late Model, Shawn Chenoweth was fast once again as he won the season-opener for the Outlaw Super Late Models presented by Hoosier Racing at Sunset Speedway.

Chenoweth found himself at the front of the field all day long, inheriting the top spot on Lap 22. From there on, he dominated the rest of the way, fending off challenges on the ensuing results to pick up the checkered flag in the 75-lap affair.

Chase Wilson and Glenn Watson were involved in the race’s first caution with a spin for Wilson, with both able to rebound for second and third respectively to complete the podium.

Passer Racing teammates Dario Capirchio and Brandon Passer were fourth and fifth.

Peterborough Speedway regular Marlie Owen picked up a sixth ahead of Todd Campbell, Mike Miller, Rob Bickle, and Adrian Foster. Thayne Hallyburton fell out of the even with just 36 laps on the board to finish 11th ahead of Ethan Cournyea. J.R. Fitzpatrick led the opening laps, until overheating issues sent him pit side on Lap 21 to place 13th.

Wilson laid the quickest lap in time trials at 13.782 seconds ahead of Watson (13.901), Chenoweth (13.920), Fitzpatrick (13.930), and Capirchio (14.011).

The Outlaw Super Late Models are back in action on June 15 at Flamboro Speedway for the Don Biederman Memorial.
