J.R. Fitzpatrick Goes Flag-to-Flag in Bicknell Racing Products 50

INNISFIL, Ontario — Starting on pole, the dream Ontario Outlaw Super Late Model season continued for J.R. Fitzpatrick in the Bicknell Racing Products 50 at Sunset Speedway.

The driver of the No. 84 would dominate the event, weaving his way through lap traffic while maintaining a healthy gap over his competition en route to visiting victory lane.

Glenn Watson topped the board in qualifying earlier in the afternoon with a lap of 13.977 seconds around the oval. Though taking the green behind Fitzpatrick, he was never able to track him and down and challenge for the lead.

Instead, Watson spent the final laps of the feature fending off a late charge from Brad Pearsall. Pearsall, making his first start with the series this season, utilized his track time at Sunset earlier this year with the open-wheel modifieds, to score a third-place finish.

Brandon Passer would finish fourth, with Ethan Cournyea making the move at the halfway mark for a fifth. Thayne Hallyburton was the first car a lap down to the leader in sixth ahead of Marlie Owen, Dario Capirchio, Adrian Foster, and Mike Miller.

The Ontario Super Late Models will be back in action as part of Sunset Speedway’s year-end Fall Velocity weekend on September 21.
